Rhinoplasty (nose job) is one of the most common facial surgeries requested by men and women. It is performed to reshape the nose if its size is too large or too small, to correct an unsightly nasal hump or tip and to relieve breathing problems by narrowing the span of nostrils. The surgery can also change the angle between the nose and upper lip, resulting in an improved appearance of the face and neck.
The results of cyprus rhinoplasty may take several weeks to a few months to become apparent. In the meantime there will be some swelling and bruising but this will gradually disappear as the tissues heal. It usually takes 6 months to a full year to appreciate the final result as the skin continues to mature and the nose settles into its new shape.
This procedure is generally performed under general anesthesia and usually requires overnight stay in hospital. In some cases it can be performed as a day surgery with the use of local anesthesia.
The operation starts with an incision across the columella, the thin strip of tissue that separates the nostrils. The surgeon then reshapes the underlying structures of the nose, either by removing or adding bone and cartilage. If the nose is to be enlarged, a piece of cartilage from the septum, ear or rarely rib can be used. When the reshaping is completed, the nose’s skin and tissue are redraped over the new structure and the incisions are closed. Splints are placed to maintain the new shape during early healing. cyprus rhinoplasty
